Joseph A. Bailey III
Joe Bailey is Crenshaw’s Executive Search Expert. He’s also Managing Director and the head of RSR Partners Global Sports Leadership Practice. Earlier, he was a Partner at Heidrick and Struggles and before that was Managing Director of the New York office for Russell Reynolds where he established and led the Media, Entertainment, and Sport Practice.
Joe’s success in recruiting is based in his fundamental belief that human talent is the only form of sustainable competitive advantage. With this perspective, he partners with industry leaders to select top executive talent for competencies, potential, and fit into their organizations. During his career in search, Joe has placed C-level executives in all functional roles across a wide range of industries.
In addition to executive recruiting, Joe has held important corporate positions. In 2005, he was named CEO of Dolphins Enterprises where he was responsible for the NFL Miami Dolphins franchise, 75,000-seat Dolphin Stadium, and its 170-acre complex. He also served as the Deputy Commissioner of the National Thoroughbred Racing Association and was the COO of the World League/NFL and the Vice President of Administration for the Dallas Cowboys Football Club. Joe was asked to serve as the Acting Commissioner of the Big East Conference, an NCAA collegiate conference consisting of 21 universities.
Joe has consulted to CEOs and boards and is a frequent lecturer and media guest on topics including effective leadership, peak performance organizations, and the “balanced CEO.” He has been a member of Duke’s Fuqua Center of Leadership and Ethics Advisory Board and was an adjunct professor for Duke University’s Sports Medicine Feagin Program. He also served as a member of the U.S. Olympic Committee’s Diversity and Inclusion Committee and is a special advisor to the Canadian Olympic Committee. Joe earned his BA degree in Political Science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
